"I'm just writing to say I'm totally satisfied with your product. We live in a row house and for years rats come in our neighbors houses with poorly sealed basements etc. Then they scurry in our walls and ceilings, pilfer dog and cat food. I've videotaped them rummaging in our kitchen at night. They laughed at the snap traps and poisons we tried

"Hey guys! Just a quick moment to congratulate a job well done! I have purchased two of your zappers with d-cell knock down and wow! The score is me (12) and rats (o). Great product and would highly recommend to all my friends if the need arises. I feed the birds in my backyard and have huge pecan trees that put out lots of pecans. It's really a chore to battle squirrels and rats that feed off the bird seed. But with your product, I think I'm gaining ground. Thanks so much!

Who considers the Rat Zapper to be the most humane mouse and rat traps?

Some people ask the question, why would anybody even want a humane rat trap? Well, there are reasons and this page is dedicated to those individuals who care.

When the Rat Zapper was invented, the initial intent was not to design the most humane rat trap. The initial intent was merely to provide an effective alternative to other rodent control methodologies. However, in the course of development, it became obvious that the Rat Zapper was far more humane than existing products. In the course of promoting and selling the Rat Zapper, it became obvious that consumers and businesses were interested in more humane ways to get rid of rodents.

Of course, the worst way to determine whether a product is humane is in the laboratory. The best way is with field research based on actual rodent infestations. Along these lines, the Rat Zapper has been highly successful. Most of our customers are animal lovers. They have rodent problems usually because of their proximity to nature or because of the food required to feed their own pets/animals.

A large portion of our commercial customer base comes from the Aviary (birds, domestic and wild) industry and the Equestrian (horse) industry. About 60% of all consumers who buy Rat Zappers do so partially because of a dog bowl on their back deck or bags of pet food in the garage. Rat Zappers are also in use in many zoos and Wild Life Preserves throughout the United States. These people who are plagued by rats are animal lovers by nature. They came to us looking for a more humane option.

How do these animal lovers know that the Rat Zapper is more humane?

Most users of the Rat Zapper have tried to solve their rodent problems with other products first. Here are some of the results on a product by product basis:

Poison: Many Rat Zapper customers complain about finding straggling rodents crawling in a poison induced stupor. Most poison takes 4 or 5 days to kill a rodent and most kill via anti-coagulation. This means that the rodent dies from internal bleeding. Also, some Rat Zapper customers have had a dog or cat that has died because of eating rodenticides or rats that have ingested rodenticides.

Snap Traps: Many Rat Zapper customers complain of the bloody mess associated with snap traps. The snap trap has been compared to a dull edged guillotine. Rat Zapper customers have found snap traps with only severed limbs of rodents.

Glue Boards: Many Rat Zapper customers complain about finding glue traps with live squealing squirming rodents in them. It is not pleasant having to dispose of a live rodent stuck in a glue board. Rodents usually die in glue traps from starvation or dehydration.

Live Catch Traps: Who could complain about the humaneness of live catch traps? People do, and for very good reasons. Live catch traps must be monitored very closely. Multi-catch mouse traps- commonly used in food processing facitlities- require that the animal either dies from dehydration or starvation or require maintenance workers to drown live rodents in buckets of water. Live catch rat traps sometimes catch more than one rat in which case a rat will cannibalize the other to survive.

Rat Zapper: The Rat Zapper works much like a stun gun that police use on criminals. When the mouse or rat triggers the high voltage, the rodent is instantly rendered unconscious like a knock on the head and then killed quickly and cleanly by muscle constriction (the heart and lungs stop functioning). The Rat Zapper is designed not to harm a pet whose body is too large to fit into the Kill Chamber.
